Motherhood is a role that comes with a broad dose of love, frustration, stress and learning. There's considerations of what pieces of your lineage to bring forward, what new things you want to create and instill, and bigger still, what each child needs and how to meet them.
One of my favorite traditions for honoring that which in spirit comes from the past and yet still finding a way to nourish the present while flowering the future is gardening. This year, I found a cute little planter with some lavender and chamomile seeds and added some rose seeds so that we could give praise to our mothers and grandmothers that came before us and enjoy the herbal scents as those seeds bloom over the summer.
Happy Mother's Day to all and especially to the moon and mother earth who have birthed us all!
